Lincoln City Captain Set For League Two Move

Lincoln City captain Tom Hopper is set to join League Two side Colchester United according to Football League World and Pete O’Rourke.

Hopper signed for The Imps in January 2020 and has been a consistent performer across his three-year stint with the club. This season he has struggled for game time, only playing 16 games netting two in the league and five in all competitions.

At the time of writing, Lincoln are currently sat 16th in League One, six points above the relegation zone but do have games in hand on sides around them. Meanwhile, Colchester are currently 18th in League Two, seven clear of the relegation zone.

Imps Forward Linked With League Two Switch

The 29-year-old has managed to rack up 100 appearances for Lincoln with his best season being 20/21 when he scored 10 goals in all competitions and also managed 5 assists.

Hopper scored a couple of important goals for City including two in the League One Play-offs taking his team to Wembley where they unfortunately lost out in the final.

His potential suitors Colchester have already made four signings this winter window to strengthen their squad as they hope to steer well away from the League Two drop.

Hopper will be a good attacking addition for the League Two side, with rival clubs also targetting him he may be a shroud signing and the difference between relegation and survival.

Writers view…

In my opinion, Hopper would be a great signing for Colchester and he would provide stiff competition with forwards like John Akinde. As mentioned already Colchester have strengthened well already in the window and performances and results of late have seriously improved.

For Lincoln, it is a big loss considering he has been there for a number of years and was an important part of the team in that memorable play-off campaign. Maybe Hopper leaving could open the door to another striker to help bolster their frontline.

Lincoln fans, Do you believe this is the right decision?
