Mansfield Town have completed the signing of midfielder Louis Reed from fellow promotion rivals Swindon Town for an undisclosed fee, but what can the stag’s fans expect?
On Sunday morning, Mansfield Town confirmed the addition of the 25-year-old as they looked to replace George Lapslie who moved onto Gillingham. The midfielder arrives from Swindon Town as the club chase promotion.
The Stags currently sit 9th in League Two, one point away from the play-off places. Meanwhile, Swindon currently sit 6th in the League Two table coming off the back of a five-nil thumping of Grimsby Town.

🤝 Welcome to the Stags, Louis!#Stags 🟡🔵 pic.twitter.com/4tjEJdXvFM
Since Louis joined Swindon in 2021, he has made 59 appearances for the Robins and been an instrumental figure in Swindon’s playoff campaign last season, despite it being unsuccessful. He contributed to seven goals in all competitions last year, with an absolute stunner coming in the defeat at Crewe in the first round of the FA Cup.
Reed joined Swindon after leaving Peterborough United in the summer of 2021, after spending three years at the club, he made 84 appearances for the club and made 11 goal contributions in that time, he attracted interest from Swindon, and they managed to agree his services on a free transfer.

Louis Reed is a sensational player, arguably the best player in the division last year. Settling in as Ben Garner number five. He has a wonderful range of passing allowing him to unlock defenses from deep. However, he never seemed to be Scott Lindsey’s favourite and was often dropped which led to him being sold.
Overall, I think this is a massive loss for Swindon, due to his quality and talent. In my opinion, he was Swindon’s player of the season last year and if you can find a system that suits him, he will be unplayable. A big loss for Swindon not only as a player but as a person as well as he was always friendly and happy to speak to fans.
Mansfield fans, Are you happy with your latest arrival?
