Cheltenham Town are set to complete the signing of 20-year-old Will Goodwin from Championship side Stoke City, per Jon Palmer of Gloucestershire Live.
Goodwin has spent the first half of this season on loan in the National League with Torquay United, where he scored eight goals during his time there, which included the clubs 95th-minute equaliser against Derby County in the first round of the FA Cup.
The 20-year-old joined Stoke City from Chester and spent the 21/22 season on loan in the National League with Hartlepool United.
The Robins moved swiftly to replace the exiting striker Dan Nlundulu, who is expected to join up with fellow League One side Bolton Wanderers on Monday.
Nlundulu spent the first half of this season on loan and struggled to find the net for the Gloucestershire-based side, scoring five in 25 starts.
Our Verdict
Goodwin is a solid striker with a decent level of experience in the National League to make the step up to League One, we have seen it with Harry Boyes in his move to Lincoln recently that their clubs have faith in them to make these steps up.
With Nlundulu struggling, it was right for him to move on despite his best efforts, it just was not happening for him for Cheltenham and it was best for both parties.
With Town struggling, it can be expected to see more signings through the door before the end of this month.
Cheltenham fans are you happy to see Goodwin join?
