‘Cracking signing’, ‘He will do well’ – These Nottingham Forest fans react as 19-y/o makes L1 switch

Nottingham Forest’s Wales international attacker Brennan Johnson has joined League One side Lincoln City on a season-long loan deal.

Johnson is the third Forest player to join the Imps in 18-months, following in the footsteps of Tyler Walker and Liam Bridcutt. The 19-year-old, who can play out wide, or as a ten, arrives at Sincil bank in the aftermath of their 7-2 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.

Johnson is a former a Welsh Under 19 and Under 21 international and is set to enjoy his first loan spell away from the City Ground. He made his first team debut in August 2019 as a substitute in Forest’s opening game of the season against West Brom in the Championship.

He went onto make seven more appearances for Forest, including outings against Derby and Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, as well as featuring at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup. He ended his breakthrough season as a regular part of the Forest matchday squad, featuring in two of their post-covid hiatus matches, against Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town.

With news that west Brom loanee Callum Morton may have picked up a long term injury whilst with the Imps, Johnson’s arrival comes at the perfect time. Forest fans on Twitter have indicated this is a solid signing for Michael Appleton’s side, and if he matches the output of Walker, who bagged 17 goals in half a season, he may well prove them right.

Another new signing for Lincoln, but how much do you know about their recent acquisitions?
