Bolton Wanderers yesterday secured the services of defender Jamie Mascoll on an initial one-year deal following his release by Championship side Wycombe Wanderers.
The 23-year-old also has an option for another 12 months and becomes the 15h signing of the summer for Ian Evatt, who is hoping to lead the Trotter out of the bottom tier.
Mascoll started out at Dulwich Hamlet, later appearing for Phoenix Sports and Cray Wanderers before a move to Grays Athletic. He was then picked up by Charlton but didn’t make an appearance for the Addicks, instead heading back to Grays on loan. A move to Adams Park followed, but he was only given a handful of chances at Wycombe before his release.
“Jamie is another player who is a good age and has no end of improvement to come,” said former Barrow boss Evatt. “He is lightning quick, has excellent quality with his left foot and we are excited to add him into our group.”
Mascoll can also play in midfield and may get an appearance in this evening’s friendly against Wigan Athletic.
“As soon as the interest came about, it was an easy decision to make, especially after speaking to Ian,” he said on completing the move. “I’ve been trying to keep myself fit since I left Wycombe and hopefully I can come here and hit the ground running.
“I’m a quick player and I like to try and run in behind as well. I think the style of play here at Bolton will suit me a lot.”
Fans of both Wycombe and Bolton have been reacting to the move overnight, with Chairboys supporters seemingly happy that a talented player has found a club that may bring on his development.

Very good left back showed amazing potential shame we didn't manage to keep him

Glad to hear he’s found a decent club! Hope he does well for you, a promising young player, just unlucky to be behind Jacobson and not really get a chance to establish himself. Many Wycombe fans were surprised to see him go. Hope to see him and you guys again soon.

All these signings have got pace. After years of watching Bolton teams completely void of any sort of pace (exception being Anelka) this is extremely refreshing.

Should be a good signing for you guys. A pacey left back who has lots of potential. Disappointed to see him leave us myself. Hope he does well there.

Disappointed we @wwfcofficial didn’t sign him on again. Attacking full back with lots of potential.
