‘Money speaks’, ‘Give us the title now’ – These fans react as Mansfield’s impressive summer continues

Mansfield Town continued their impressive summer business by landing former Forest Green defender Farrend Rawson on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old came through the youth ranks at Derby County, experiencing loan spells with Accrington, Coventry City and Rotherham United, before joining up with Mark Cooper’s side in January 2018.

He’s gone on to make 97 appearances for Rovers, before being released at the end of this season. He becomes the club’s fifth signing of a busy summer, arriving afterย Jordan Bowery, Jamie Reid, Marek ล tฤ›ch and experienced midfielder Ollie Clarke.

Manager Graham Coughlan sang the praises of his latest acquisition, saying;ย โ€œThis is another terrific addition to our squad.ย For someone so young, Faz has amassed a lot of experience and game time and with the right coaching he can definitely push himself to the next level.ย He is honest, hard-working and a real commanding figure in both boxes.”

The move has drawn supporters of other clubs to Twitter, eager to point out that despite being behind a salary cap, Mansfield once again appear to be trying to buy their way out of League Two. After two expensively-assembled squads failed in 2017/18 and 2018/19, they took a different approach last season and missed out on the play-offs.

The more frugal approach to last season appears to have passed some supporters by, as you’ll see below, but on the other hand, plenty of Stags fans are excited by the future.
