‘Lazy’, ‘Awful player’ – Plenty of fans react as Swansea City man makes EFL switch

Fleetwood Town bagged former Rangers winger Barrie McKay yesterday as he penned a loan deal with Fleetwood Town, as confirmed by their club Twitter feed.

The winger was once highly-rated after moving to Nottingham Forest with Mark Warburton a couple of seasons ago but has suffered a fall from grace. He has signed a deal with the League One side which will see him play at Highbury Stadium until the end of the season.

After leaving Forest for Swansea he hoped to reignite his career, but again has found himself struggling for game time with his parent club. The move sees him reunited with former Ibrox teammate Joey Barton.

Fleetwood are currently 11th in the League One table, six points shy of the final play-off spot but 17 clear of the bottom three, who are in danger of being cut adrift in League One.

McKay, who has undoubted talent but as yet hasn’t been able to consistently produce it, won’t make his debut this afternoon against Doncaster Rovers. The move is subject to confirmation from the EFL and the club receiving international clearance.

Fans have reacted on Twitter to the move, with many Swansea fans seemingly delighted he’s been shipped out.
