Paul Hurst’s fall from grace continues after he received the sack from Scunthorpe United this afternoon.
Hurst was once touted as the brightest young manager in the business, taking Grimsby Town back to the Football League, before putting Shrewsbury into the League One play-offs and a Checkatrade Trophy final.
He moved to Ipswich and didn’t last the season before being booted out and now, less than a season into his tenure as Scunthorpe manager, he’s on the move again. A statement by the club revealed he is now out of work, along with his assistant Chris Doig.
The Iron were easily beaten 3-0 by Northampton Town last night and have registered just two wins in their last ten games, one of those coming against man City Under 21s. Hurst, whose side were 16th after last night’s result, had put together a seven-game unbeaten run before that.
The move has clearly come as a shock to these Scunthorpe supporters, but the move doesn’t seem to be causing them too much distress either. They have a clear idea of who they want in charge too, judging by the comments.
Didn't see this coming, but ffs, don't piss about this time, what ever it costs, get @TheNigelAdkins in.

Very happy with this. He only started playing KVV because he must have been close to the sack before. Hammill treatment was bad too. Never subbed Novak. Keepers who don’t even shave !
