Arsenal forward Tyreece John-Jules has been linked with a move to League One side Lincoln City by the Independent this morning.
The 18-year-old, who has appeared five times in the Leasing.com Trophy for the Gunners, is said to be finalising a deal on a loan spell that will run to the end of the season, but only with assurances that he will get regular game time for the club.
He has five Premier League 2 goals from 12 outings this season and recently penned an extension to his one-year deal with the Gunners. After scoring in a friendly in Dubai last year he trained with Unai Emery’s first team, but new manager Mikel Arteta clearly feels a spell away in senior football will be of benefit.
Lincoln are managed by Michael Appleton, a former Manchester United youngster who took over from record-breaking boss Danny Cowley in September. They’ve also been linked with a loan move for West Ham prodigy Conor Coventry, with Appleton hoping to make good use of his first transfer window as boss.
They’ve completed one deal this January already, signing Eire Under 21 international Zack Elbouzedi from Waterford.
Our View
Michael Appleton vowed to bring in young, hungry players to aid his side’s fight to remain in League One and if they pull off this transfer double fans will certainly have something to be excited about.
John-Jules has been around the Arsenal first team if not actually playing in it, whilst Coventry is emerging as a huge talent at West Ham.
Fans will be eagerly refreshing their chosen news outlet through the day after Appleton confirmed he expected two deals to be completed today.
