Oldham Athletic have signed Salford City defender Carl Piergianni on loan for the rest of the season.
The twenty-seven-year-old joined Salford in July 2017 and has won back-to-back promotions from the National League North to League Two with The Ammies.
The no-nonsense stopper won the Supporters’ Player of the Year award in his first season and was awarded the Players’ Player of the Year award at the end of last season after scoring twelve goals in Salford’s National League promotion campaign.
Having begun his career at Peterborough United, Piergianni also had spells at Altrincham, Stockport and Boston United before arriving at Moor Lane.
A fans favourite at the Ammies, Perigianni has struggled for game time this season after a mistake against Forest Green in September.
Plenty of Ammies supporters were quick to wish Piergianni all the best on the move with some fans critical that the club had allowed him to leave when they took to social media to react to the news.
