Striker Omar Bogle is not poised to make a move to Bristol Rovers, as revealed by Bristol Live.
Numerous Twitter accounts had linked the former Grimsby striker with a move to either Lincoln City or Bristol Rovers, but the latter have denied he’s a target in an article this afternoon. whilst some accounts rubbished the chatter at the time, several Twitter accounts seized on the rumour and gave it legs.
26-year-old Bogle made his name with Grimsby Town as they emerged from the National League in 2016. 32 goals in 68 appearances alerted Championship side Wigan Athletic, whom he joined for an undisclosed fee.
He bagged three times for Wigan in 14 encounters before attracting the attention of Neil Warnock at Cardiff, who paid a reported £1m fee for his services. However, he hasn’t impressed for the Bluebirds, scoring just four goals in 21 outings.
He’s spent time out on loan during his time in South Wales, scoring once in nine outings at Peterborough, one in 15 for Birmingham City and four in 12 for Portsmouth.
He would seem poised to make an exit from Cardiff, but any fee would be a stumbling block for the likes of Lincoln City, as would the player’s wages.
Our View
If there’s one thing that really grinds my gears around this time of year, it is the fake accounts peddling nonsense transfer talk. Clubs shouldn’t have to field inane questions about moves made up by kids in their bedrooms, but they do.
It leads to issues for clubs though; why haven’t they signed the striker they were linked with online? It must have fallen through, they can’t land targets, etc. Social media is good for a lot of things, but it isn’t good for January.
