Portsmouth have signed former Charlton youngster Reeco Hackett-Fairchild on a two-and-a-half-year deal from National League side Bromley, as reported by their official site.
Hackett-Fairchild has been one of the most eye-catching strikers to emerge in the National League this season, helping Bromley to fourth place in the table. He’s bagged eight goals for the Ravens and it is thought a host of Football League clubs have been keeping tabs on him.
Boss Kenny Jackett is delighted to have added the forward to his ranks, saying: “He’s a left-footed player, who’s comfortable in any of the attacking positions.
“He’s got a lot of ball-playing ability, as well as an eye for goal, so we’re delighted to bring him here to work alongside the rest of our forward line.”
He’ll draw obvious comparisons with former Pompey hero Jamal Lowe. Lowe signed from a National League South side, but is a left-sided attacker. Hackett-Fairchild has been given the number 18 shirt, previously held by the Wigan striker.
The 21-year-old began life as a trainee at Dagenham & Redbridge before a move to Charlton following a successful trial. He made 24 appearances for the Addicks before dropping out of the Football League.
