Bolton Wanderers have announced that two of the players signed on loan during their frantic rebuilding in the summer have now returned to their parent clubs.
Josh Earl and Jake Wright have returned to Preston North End and Sheffield United respectively. The players, both defenders, will not feature again for the Trotters as they look to turn around a huge deficit in the second half of the season.
Earl made a total of 11 appearances for Bolton, having come through the youth ranks at Preston. He struggled for game time early on in his Bolton career, appearing just once in August and September. He was also sent off as Keith Hill’s side were trounced 7-1 by Accrington Stanley.
33-year-old Wright made a total of 12 appearances for Bolton, having played much of his football for Oxford United before a move to Bramall Lane. Like Earl, he has been a regular in the side in the last couple of months and is sure to be loaned back out to another League One or Two side in the coming weeks.
Bolton fans have expressed some surprise at the decisions, pondering on social media as to who might play at the back for them this weekend.
