‘Good, solid player’ – These fans react as former Ipswich man makes Blackpool switch

Blackpool have made an early move in the transfer market by confirming the arrival of Grant Ward who has most recently been with Ipswich Town.

The 25-year-old has been training with Ipswich this season as he battled back from an ACL injury and will make the move as a free agent, having been released at the end of last season. He boasts Spurs as a former employer and has spent time on loan with Coventry City, Rotherham United and Chicago Fire.

His most consistent run of games has come at Portman Road, making 98 outings in all competitions, scoring eight times, but he last played in December 2018, suffering cruciate knee ligament injury during a 0โ€“3 away loss to Queens Park Rangers.

He’s clearly delighted to have secured a deal with the Seasiders, telling their official site:ย โ€œIโ€™ve spoken to the manager and the owner and theyโ€™ve welcomed me with open arms. Iโ€™m coming to a team that wants to progress and the owner wants the area to do well. Iโ€™m excited to be part of it.โ€

He joins a club currently tenth in the League One table, just two points outside the top six. Blackpool fans are pleased to have signed a player they see as having potential, even if he has been out injured for a prolonged period of time. Some Ipswich fans have even taken the time to wish him well, pondering on why they haven’t made him an offer to stay in Suffolk.
