‘He’ll tear League One apart’ – These Waterford fans highly rate Lincoln City’s new signing

Lincoln City have signed Waterford winger Zack Elbouzedi for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

The pacy twenty-one-year-old will officially arrive at Sincil Bank once the transfer window opens on the 1 January.

Elbouzedi is a Republic of Ireland Under-21 international who began his career at West Brom before moving north of the border to Inverness in 2017.

Injuries hampered his progress in Scotland, and his contract was terminated by mutual consent before he headed back to Ireland with Waterford.

Now back to full fitness, Elbouzedi’s outstanding displays for Waterford in 2019 have seen him score six times in twenty-seven appearances. It is impressive form which sparked interest from several clubs looking to secure his services, something a delighted Imps boss Michael Appleton acknowledged when he spoke to the club’s official website. He said: ‘We see this as a little bit of a coup for the football club, there have been a few clubs showing a lot of interest in him.’

Waterford fans agreed with Appleton when they took to social media to react to the Imps announcing the signing with many expressing the strong opinion the Imps have indeed signed a gem of a player.

Here is a small selection of their responses to the signing on Twitter.
