Doncaster Rovers exited the EFL Trophy with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of an impressive Leicester Under-21 side last night.
Two goals from Admiral Muskwe and a late header from former Sheffield Wednesday youngster George Hirst sealed a comfortable victory for former Rovers manager Steve Beaglehole’s young team at the Keepmoat.
In front of just 1,322 supporters, Rovers never really threatened despite having much of the possession and the loss leaves them on a poor run of one win in seven across all competitions.
Indeed, Darren Moore’s men have conceded six without reply in their last two games which have seen them bombed out of two cup competitions. Their league form is no better, and after reaching the playoffs last season they are currently a disappointing fourteenth in League One.
Injuries haven’t helped, and while there is not a massive clamour for a change in the technical area from supporters, many have started to question Moore’s abilities on social media and last night was no different. Some fans feel the club is stagnating or worse, going backwards under the former West Brom boss.
Rovers host MK Dons on Saturday, and it would appear Moore desperately needs a win against one of the division’s strugglers to ease the pressure.
