Forest Green manager off the hook as Leyton Orient move on

Forest Green manager Mark Cooper will not be pursued by the FA, nor Leyton Orient following the spat at last week’s game.

Cooper was accused of making comments to Ross Embleton that sullied the memory of Justin Edinburgh, their former manager who passed away over the summer. Embleton reacted passionately, earning himself a red card, but blasting the Forest Green boss after the game.

Cooper, who is no stranger to controversy, denied making any comments and received word in the week the FA would not take further action. That’s now been bolstered by Orient also considering the matter closed after what they labelled ‘constructive, but inconclusive’ talks with Forest Green chairman Dale Vince.

Orient chairman Nigel Travis said; “Following the incident on the touchline at the Breyer Group Stadium last Saturday with Leyton Orient interim head coach Ross Embleton and Forest Green Rovers manager, Mark Cooper, I had several constructive, but ultimately inconclusive discussions with the Forest Green Chairman, Dale Vince.

“Given the fact that the FA have taken no action against Ross following his red card, other than a warning, we have decided to focus on important upcoming fixtures and regard the matter as closed.”

In December 2017 Cooper was accused of being involved in a confrontation with a Lincoln fan after his side were beaten at Sincil Bank, but that also ended up being settled amicably.

Our View

The Teflon Don, that’s Cooper. Nothing sticks.

We’re decent people here at the Real EFL and we don’t have particular allegiances either way. Everyone has chosen to let this matter drop and as such it is implied that nothing was said. I’m sure Ross Embleton doesn’t feel that is the case.

It is better to move on for Orient, it will do no good looking back and seething over what happened, but the return match in February is going to be very, very interesting.
