Football fans who like a flutter will have been cursing Wycombe last night as the Chairboys suffered an extra-time defeat at Adams Park against Tranmere Rovers.
They led 1-0 after Anthony Stewart’s opener, with Kane Wilson dismissed for the visitors. As leaders of League One, fans will have expected to see the win out against ten men, but it wasn’t the case.
Morgan Ferrier levelled things ten minutes after the break which resulted in extra time being played. Deep into the second period, Kieron Morris bagged a winner to set Tranmere up with a second-round tie against Chichester City.
After the game, manager Gareth Ainsworth claimed the extra time was something his players could have done without, but Mickey Mellon was delighted with the efforts of his side. They’ve struggled in league action of late, but now have the prospect of a lucrative third-round tie looming large over the club.
The Chairboys will be back in league action this weekend, but some supporters were a little concerned at last night’s defeat, despite their good run of form in League One.
Bit embarrassing lads.

Bringing Bayo off really cost us this tie, look a different team when he ain’t playing

A timely reminder that there is still improvements to be made to the squad to be competitive every week, a few changes and we aren't able to beat ten men of a side down the league

At least we can focus on the league now……. That's the usual response to these results isn't it?? But at least we are currently in a position where that actually means something.

Reading the tweets it looks like we were very unlucky again tonight. Put it behind you and heads up for Saturdays game. It will only make you more determined for another home win
