‘Poor excuse of a football club’ – Plenty of fans react after Carlisle lash out at EFL rivals

Carlisle United slipped to another defeat yesterday, just days after dispensing with the services of manager Steven Pressley.

The Cumbrians lost to Port Vale 2-1 courtesy of goals from David Worrall and Mark Cullen. It was hard on the strugglers as they took a first-minute lead through Ryan Loft and seemed energised and organised in the opening exchanges.

Whilst the defeat only further compounds their misery this season, an exchange ahead of the game raised some eyebrows. They’re due to face Forest Green Rovers in a couple of weeks time in the FA Cup with ticket details being released by their hosts yesterday morning.

The announcement took a few people by surprise; including Carlisle United. In a rather cutting post on Twitter, they expressed their surprise at Forest Green putting details out there without informing them first.

“Unusual for clubs not to agree a joint announcement on things like this,” said Carlisle. “Apologies United fans, we still haven’t formally received full details.”

That’s prompted a number of fans to respond with their opinions on Forest Green. That’s not just Carlisle fans either; it seems the little club on the hill are not the most popular of opposition.

Here’s a selection of responses to the announcement on social media.
