Scunthorpe United continue to find it difficult back in League Two, and the pressure is mounting on manager Paul Hurst after a dull 0-0 draw with fellow strugglers Stevenage on Saturday at Glanford Park.
The Iron have been in a virtual freefall since they surprisingly decided to sack Graham Alexander in March 2018 with the club in contention for a League One play-off place. The following campaign saw three different faces in the dugout, but a season of turmoil saw the Iron relegated to League Two.
The appointment of Paul Hurst, looking to rebuild his once-promising career after a disastrous spell at Ipswich, brought some early season optimism for Scunthorpe fans but the team have failed to find their feet in the fourth tier. They currently find themselves in an extremely disappointing twenty-first in the table, just two points above the relegation place after mustering only three league wins all season.
Despite many Iron supporters calling for Hurst to be given some time when he was appointed in the summer, plenty of fans now want him gone.
The reaction to the draw on social media was not pleasant, and it is apparent Hurst’s position is becoming increasingly untenable with the some of the club’s supporters, who were severely critical of his tactics during their latest poor performance.
Here is a selection of responses to the result and the club’s current position on Twitter.
Hurst out ! Only attacking element Van Veen subbed. Dull dull dull. Can’t see the chairman sticking with this #UTI

You rarely get the best from players if you do not play to their strengths. Remember a previous manager with Paddy Madden plan how to make a striker into a winger ? Now Paddy scores regularly but for another club where they play to what he is good at – BEING A STRIKER !!

Disappointed as well after we seem to be making small steps of improvement. Amother middle aged boring manager not brave enough to go on the front foot at home too cautious. Fortune favours the brave #UTI
