‘Dodged a bullet there lads,’ ‘Shambolic’ – These fans react to Bradford City setback

Bradford City have suffered a setback after Chris Taylor’s move to Valley Parade was cancelled due to a registration error.

Bradford boss Gary Bowyer had previously worked with Taylor at Blackpool and Blackburn, but his attempt to bolster his injury-hit squad by adding the free agent has floundered.

The experienced campaigner signed for the Bantams on a short-term deal last week, but an appearance for Barrow as a trialist in an FA Lancashire Cup tie means his eligibility is a doubt.

In a remarkable statement, the club confirmed that neither the FA or the EFL could give assurances that a points deduction would not be applied if Taylor played.

The former Millwall, Bolton and Blackburn winger is without a club following his release by Blackpool in the summer but it now looks like his career has been put in limbo until the issue is resolved.

While the lack of clarity from the game’s administrators was heavily criticised when fans took to social media to react to the news, many supporters of Taylor’s previous clubs suggested that far from being a setback, the breakdown of the deal was actually a stroke of luck for the Bantams.

It would appear from the following selection of responses to the news on Twitter, Taylor was not rated by many supporters who had recently seen him in action.
