24-year-old Fleetwood Town midfielder Kyle Dempsey has appeared on the radar of a trio of Championship sides after his recent impressive performances according to Football Insider.
The central midfielder has recently won his place back in Joey barton’s first team and has been catching the eye of scouts with a number of solid performances.
He started his career with Carlisle United, later joining Huddersfield Town who are ironically one of his suitors. He spent two seasons with the Terriers, but only played 24 times and was loaned out to Fleetwood in 2016/17. He made that move permanent the following year but seemed to be on his way out after being sent to Peterborough on loan.
Instead, he’s forced his way back into the reckoning as the Cod Army and is currently a first-team staple with Barton’s side fourth in the table. He bagged in a recent 3-3 draw with Southend and has featured seven times in League One.
Dempsey is approaching the end of his current contract at Highbury and it’s believed that the Championship trio are ready to look for a cut-price deal in the January window.
Our View
This could get interesting; Dempsey was loaned out last year and you have to wonder if he has much loyalty to Fleetwood. He’s put himself in the shop window recently and if his solid outings continue, interest will only grow.
Huddersfield are an interesting side to be keeping an eye on him; not only did he play for them for two years, but he also made his first appearance of the season for Fleetwood against their manager Danny Cowley, who was in charge of Lincoln at the time.
With him coming from Whitehaven, Huddersfield would seem a logical move, if the interest is there.
