Millwall have approached Wycombe to speak to Gareth Ainsworth about the vacant manager’s job at the Den.
Neil Harris stepped down from the role earlier in the month, leaving a vacancy to be filled in East London. As yet, they’ve not rushed into any appointment, but in-demand Ainsworth is seemingly on their list.
He’s already been linked with the Lincoln City job this season, as well as the vacant role at Sunderland, but a move to the Lions would bring the one thing he truly craves; Championship management.
He is settled at Adams Park, having taken the Chairboys from the foot of League Two to the League One promotion race, but with their future set to be put to a vote, it’s possible he could be tempted away.
His style of football suits Millwall, that’s for sure. He can have a team playing nice passing football, but he’s equally as comfortable when they’re aggresive and hard to break down. He’s also used to managing the underdog, something that describes Millwall in the Championship.
It’s fair to say there’s a spread of reaction from Millwall fans about the latest links, as you’ll read below.

This is so disappointing, real turning point for the club and yet again we’re going for a risk
