Blackpool boss Simon Grayson is hoping his injured duo of Joe Nuttall and Sulley Kaikai will be back in time for their next league fixture, as reported by the Blackpool Gazette.
The Seasiders have been rocked with injuries recently, both Nathan Delfouneso and Sean Scannell have had spells out. They returned this weekend as Blackpool were beaten 2-1 by Rotherham United, but they’ll be further boosted when Kaikai and Nuttall return.
Speaking of Kaikai, former Leeds and Sunderland boss Grayson said: “He’s not far away. I would expect him to be fit for the Wycombe game and probably Joe Nuttall as well.
“It was nice to have one option back for the Rotherham game in Delf and hopefully the other two will be close.”
Delfouneso came off the bench for Grayson after the hour mark at the weekend, marking his return to fitness after rejoining training earlier in the week.
Scannell, a summer signing from League Two side Bradford City, got 70-minute sunder his belt as he too looks for a return to match fitness.
Both players could get some action tomorrow evening as the Tangerines take on Carlisle United in the EFL Trophy.
The much-maligned EFL Trophy comes into its own when getting match action under an injured player’s belt. Grayson won’t risk both players from the start, but both are likely to get some time on the grass as they hunt full sharpness.
As for Nuttall and Kaikai, both could be key players for Blackpool this season, if they’re fit. Kaikai is a tremendous talent with bags of creativty and Nuttall is a big, powerful striker able to play eithe rin the channel or with his back to goal.
They need both back, quickly.
