Three crucial League Two fixtures this weekend

Carlisle United v Crewe Alexandra

Steven Pressley is not a popular figure amongst many Carlisle fans as he continues to bear the brunt of supporter criticism for the proud club’s continued failure to mount a promotion challenge.

While it could be argued the Cumbrians problems run deeper than who is in the dugout, their poor start to the season is not endearing the Scot to many Carlisle fans. Their form at home is an issue; it was the end of September before the Blues secured a home win when they beat fellow strugglers Oldham Athletic 1-0. They showed signs of promise last time out when they held a robust Newport County side at bay before finally succumbing to a thirty-yard wonder strike five minutes into stoppage time, condemning them to their sixth defeat of the campaign.

Crewe meanwhile are in much better form. An unbeaten run of four league games has seen them rise to fourth in the League Two table. Boss David Artell has been given time to build a vibrant young team who have added a bit of steel to their make up this campaign. They’ve drawn their last two games, including an excellent point at home win experts Cheltenham Town last time out on their travels and they will be confident of securing their fifth away win of the season at Brunton Park.

We can’t see anything other than an away win to heap more pressure on Pressley and continue the Cumbrians fall down the table.
