Tranmere Rovers have announced that club skipper Scott Davies has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
The thirty-two-year-old goalkeeper is a popular figure at Prenton Park having played a crucial role in the club’s meteoric rise up the football pyramid in recent years. Davies started in both of Tranmere’s playoff victories in 2018 and 2019, helping them from the National League to League One.
Davies has made two hundred and three appearances for the Super White Army since joining from Fleetwood Town in 2015 and was delighted to extend his stay in Birkenhead. He told the club’s official website: ‘This is a family club. You only have to go out into the community to see how well the Club is supported, and my family love it here too.
‘I have a great rapport with the fans, and it is a huge honour to sign this contract and captain this football club. The supporters have been first class with me and my family since I signed.’
The goalkeeper’s popularity was clearly evident amongst those Tranmere fans who took to social media to react to the news with most fans delighted they will be seeing more of the experienced campaigner who kept an impressive twenty-one clean sheets last season.
