Bolton Wanderers are eying a move for former Norwich City and Millwall winger Ben Marshall as reported by The Bolton News.
Wanderers boss Keith Hill is attempting to lure the experienced campaigner to Bolton for a trial this week with a view to sorting out a deal.
Hill told the local paper, ‘We’re trying to encourage him to come into training with us.’
‘I have spoken to his representatives, and we’d like the opportunity to have a look at him, and he can have a look at us.’
‘He is currently without a club, and he’s a very good player.’
The twenty-eight-year-old attacker counts Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke amongst a host of former clubs in a long career which began in Manchester United’s youth team. He’s played the majority of his career in the Championship and spent last season on loan at Millwall before his release by Norwich City.
The former England Under-21 international can play on either wing and has over three hundred and fifty senior appearances to his name.
Ambitious League Two newcomers Salford City have also been credited with an interest in the winger.
Our View
The problem for Hill might be the ability to persuade Marshall to drop into League One.
However, Hill has already pulled off some great captures for Wanderers, and it wouldn’t surprise us if he pulled this deal off.
Marshall is still Championship quality and would be an excellent addition to his fledgeling squad.
He’s still quick, tricky and powerful and would add quality to Hill’s frontline.
