Bolton were narrowly edged out by Portsmouth this afternoon, going down 1-0 at Fratton Park.
Pompey boss Kenny Jackett is under pressure from his own supporters and this narrow victory will have done little to ease the burden on his shoulders. Bolton, the league’s whipping boys up to a fortnight ago, were organised and resolute but should have been broken down far easier.
Brett Pitman, a player frozen out by Jackett, scored the only goal of the game as well as missing a penalty. It gave Pompey only their second win of the season, a situation that’s led to a tense atmosphere.
Despite having the lion’s share of possession, both sides registered 10 shots on goal and that won’t sit well with Portsmouth fans, anxious to see some level of improvement in the coming weeks.
On Twitter, the response to the win has been instantaneous; they’re not convinced by this narrow victory and are still pointing the finger at one man. Kenny Jackett is going to have to do an awful lot if he’s to cling on to power this autumn.

We need to calm down and remember that he won a trophy last seas on plus we only just missed out on promotion thanks to some poor referee decisions last season. And the more the so called supporters get on the managers back and the team the harder it becomes to win.
