Glasgow Rangers loan star set to return to EFL side after injury

Glasgow Rangers youngster Zak Rudden is amongst a number of players close to returning to full fitness at Plymouth Argyle, as reported by Plymouth Live.

Ryan Lowe’s side are currently 14th in League Two, with five points between them and the top seven. They’ve had a rough time with injuries though, with Joe Riley, Jose Baxter, Byron Moore and Dom Telford all out, as well as Rangers man Rudden.

That situation looks likely to ease in the coming weeks as a number of players are set to return to action. Lowe was asked about their progress ahead of this weekend’s fixture with Mansfield Town.

“It’s good news on all of them really,” the former Bury boss told Plymouth Live.

“Joe Riley is now training, so he’s back. Jose Baxter, Dom and Byron have all had injections and they are not as long as we first thought.”

Regarding the on-loan Ibrox star, Lowe revealed he’s soon due back at Home Park after recuperating back in Glasgow.

“Zak Rudden is back with us Monday. He’s alright. He had a burst bursa at the back of his knee from his operation. They (Rangers) are just going to monitor him over the next few days and then he will back available for training Monday.”

19-year-old Rudden has appeared for Scotland up to under 19 level, as well as having had a spell at Falkirk last season.

Our View

Plymouth need to get some bodies back as soon as possible. They’re without a win in seven matches and suffered defeat at home this weekend against Cheltenham, a game they would have expected to win.

Having also been held by Crawley and beaten by Port Vale in the last week or so, Ryan Lowe’s magic from last season hasn’t yet found a way into the Pilgrim’s performances.

Perhaps 6ft 2in striker Rudden will be the man to kickstart their stumbling season.
