Scunthorpe United unveiled former Nottingham Forest striker Jamie Ward this afternoon, as they look to plot a way out of the bottom half of League Two.
Paul Hurst’s side are struggling following relegation from League One last season and have just one win from their opening fixtures. They’re 23rd in the table with only winless Stevenage keeping them off the bottom.
In addition, they’ve bagged just ten goals in as many fixtures and are hoping the 33-year-old can help get them out of their current rut.
Ward began his career with Aston Villa, but made a name for himself at Chesterfield before moves to Sheffield United, Derby County and Nottingham Forest. He’s played on loan at Cardiff, Burton and Charlton during his Forest days, but left the City Ground in the summer.
In addition to his domestic experience, he’s also represented Northern Ireland, scoring four times in 35 fixtures.
Is he the man to get the Iron out of the fire? This is what fans are thinking about his latest move on Twitter.

If he can stay fit then that’s a top signing at that level. Worth a go with the trouble they’re in
