Plymouth Argyle slumped to their fourth defeat of the season yesterday as in-form Cheltenham extended their winning run to four matches with an impressive 2-0 victory at Home Park.
Luke Varney gave the Robins the lead on forty minutes after heading home at the far post following good work by Sean Long before Ryan Broom’s stoppage-time effort took a wicked deflection of Argyle defender Will Aimson to fatally wrong-foot Alex Palmer in the Pilgrims net.
Despite Ryan Lowe’s men dominating much of the possession and creating several good chances, Cheltenham held firm to take the three points back to Gloucestershire and leave Plymouth in a disappointing fourteenth position in the early League Two table.
It is not the start Pilgrims supporters were hoping for when Ryan Lowe arrived from Bury in the summer bringing several of last season’s exciting Shakers League Two promotion-winning side with him. The early season optimism is starting to evaporate at Home Park and judging by the reaction to the result on social media the pressure is beginning to mount on Lowe, with many angry supporters already questioning whether the Liverpudlian is the right man in the dugout.
Here is a selection of Argyle fans responses to the result on Twitter.

Not good enough

No doubt we will hear about stats and possession, sorry but they count for nothing, yes at times we are playing some great football, however not good if we can’t score goals or defend against teams that hit us on the break, new strikers have hamstrings made from cheese strings
