Oldham Athletic have appointed former Stevenage boss Dino Maamria as their new head coach after sacking Laurent Banide.
Only appointed in June, Banide was relieved of his duties after winning just two of his eleven games in charge.
Maamria was himself sacked by Stevenage earlier this month after they failed to register a win in their opening seven League Two fixtures. Expressing delight and excitement at joining the Latics the fifty-one-year-old told the club’s official website ‘The vision and ambition of the chairman was a big factor, and the first priority is to stabilise and unite this great football club.’
Maarmria is perhaps right to point out the need for the club to stabilise after becoming the fifth manager in twelve months at Boundary Park and despite signing a two-year deal fans did not fancy his chances of seeing out his contract, with many predicting he will soon go the way of his predecessors when they took to social media to react to the news.
Controversial owner Abdallah Lemsagam is not known for his patience and remains extremely unpopular amongst many Oldham supporters with widespread rumours that he constantly meddles in team affairs.
Despite his recent sacking, the Tunisian remains popular in Stevenage, and many Boro fans thought Oldham had made a great appointment yet most Latic fans felt it was only a matter of time before they will be commenting on yet another managerial change.
