‘Shocking performance,’ ‘Woeful at best’ – Plenty of Mansfield Town fans react angrily to latest defeat

Ten-man Mansfield conceded four late goals without reply to slump to a heavy defeat at Field Mill last night.

After being in control of the game in the early stages, the match turned for the Stags when defender Matt Preston received his marching orders for a reckless challenge on Luke Harnett four minutes after half-time.

Cambridge rose in confidence following the dismissal to dominate the game, and goals from Roles, Smith, Maris and Lambe secured all three points and ensured a happy coach journey home for Colin Calderwood’s men.

The result left Mansfield in eighteenth place and means they have now only won two of their opening nine League Two fixtures in a disappointing start to the season. Many fans were far from happy when they took to social media with some feeling boss John Dempster was out of his depth.

Dempster was appointed in the summer to succeed David Flitcroft after last seasons promotion failure and his days might already be numbered judging by the comments of many Stags supporters who are hoping for a quick statement from the club on his future accompanied by the dreaded picture of a corner flag.

Here is a selection of their angry response to the dreadful result on Twitter.
