Exeter City boss has turned down an approach from an unnamed club this week, with League One side Lincoln City believed to be the interested party.
The Imps are currently looking for a new manager, as are League One rivals Southend United, but neither will be getting Taylor. The 37-year-old has reaffirmed his commitment to the Grecians, who are currently top of League Two.
Having had a modest playing career with the likes of Exeter and Cheltenham, the Chorley-born manager took over at St James Park in 2018. He’s currently got a 42% win percentage and is not interested in making the move to another club.
Grecian chairman Julian Tagg claimed; “Matt cited a number of reasons for turning down the approach. He believes that the playing and working staff at our club are still in a building phase with huge potential to achieve success over the next few seasons.
“He is an ambitious manager, but his primary ambition is to be successful at Exeter City. As he has brought a lot of new players and staff to the club who have joined with a vision and expectation that he will be their manager.”
In turning down the advances of another club, Taylor has made himself a little more popular on the terraces of Exeter City than he already was, as you’ll read below.

Big decision for Matt. Lincoln have double our attendance, are a club that's grown gradually and one that aspire to Championship football. The fact he's decided to stay and build further with us is great news, no doubting his desire to be the guy that takes us up #ecfc pic.twitter.com/6lbaA5Pwgo
