Sunderland winger Duncan Watmore is due to spend the next two to three weeks out of the side as his battle back from injury takes longer than anticipated.
The 25-year-old has endured three years of injury hell, doing one ACL, then another after fighting back. He returned for a third time last season, only to be put out of action once more by a crude Marcus Bean challenge in a tough draw with Wycombe.
That left him on the treatment table through the summer, a situation that hasn’t eased despite the season being six weeks old. jack Ross confirmed today that his recovery was taking some time and he wouldn’t be back in action for two to three weeks; that could mean no return to action for six or seven given his lack of match fitness.
Sunderland fans, once behind the former England Under 21 international, are clearly losing their patience. He’s spent more time in physio with Sunderland than on the pitch in their eyes and they feel the time is coming for them to part ways.

We have "supported him through the challenges he faces" for the last 3. It's time to let him go yrs. The kid signed 5 yrs ago and has hardly played.
