‘They certainly lost their way in the second half’ – These fans react after Tranmere Rovers’ troll Gillingham boss

Tranmere Rovers and Gillingham played out an exciting 2-2 draw at the weekend but Gills boss Steve Evans was not happy at the result.

Gillingham seemed to be coasting to a rare away win at half time, but Tranmere pegged them back with second-half goals from Jennings and Mullin to leave them with a share of the spoils.

Evans was not happy about his team’s failure to kill Tranmere off with a third goal when they were on top in a dominant first forty-five minutes and also felt his side should have had a late penalty after a challenge on Mikael Ndjoli.

He told the club’s official website: ‘There is no doubt that we have left two points behind in Liverpool,’ a statement which caused the Birkenhead based club to troll him with a reminder that Tranmere is not in Liverpool but on the Wirral Peninsula and that Evans would not make a very good coach driver.

The tweet caused quite a reaction on social media, with the controversial Scot once again creating a mixture of anger and humour amongst his opponent’s supporters, and not just for his famous lack of geographical knowledge that saw him leave Mansfield for a job in China then ended up managing Peterborough, as the following selection of responses to the Tranmere tweet illustrate.
