Forest Green manager Mark Cooper was surprised his side picked up a win at Cambridge yesterday afternoon.
They won 1-0 at the Abbey Stadium to go fifth in the table, thanks to Jack Aithcinson’s late goal. He came on for Rovers as they were second best in the game, but bagged with 12 minutes left on the clock.
Cooper told the Football League Paper; “Some of our decision making was really poor and we got away with it.”
It was the Celtic loanee who got them out of the mire, hitting the post after his goal in a move that could have given the result some shine. All this came after veteran Marc Richards missed a spot-kick following a tug on George Taft.
Aitchinson certainly has his admirers, an army of Celtic fans are keeping a close eye on his progress with the little club on the hill. His deadline day move was warmly received by their fans and now his goal has had the same sort of reaction.
They were quick to jump on Twitter to let the world know how happy they are with his start at the club, although on supporters isn’t too keen on FGR’s rather ‘interesting’ kit.
