Bristol Rovers defender Mark Little is delighted his former club Bolton Wanderers have survived and is now hopeful of picking up the six months wages he’s still owed.
Speaking to Bristol Live in the aftermath of Rovers 1-1 EFL Trophy draw with League Two Plymouth Argyle, which they eventually lost on penalties, Little said he was genuinely delighted when a successful takeover saved the Trotters and watched with interest as they signed nine new players on Deadline Day.
He said: ‘It certainly was (good news) for me for personal reasons.’
‘It will be great if they end up paying me any time soon as I’m still missing six months’ wages, while they bought a full squad on deadline day.’
After removing his tongue from his cheek, Little added: ‘As long as it’s coming, I’m happy with that and definitely for everyone around Bolton – the fans, and all of the club deserve to keep their club.’
”It was a disgrace what happened, it should never, ever happen in football, but it has been saved, and they’re going forward.’
”I genuinely believe it’s fantastic.’
Last night’s outing was the full-backs first start since injuring his ankle in Rovers second game of the season at Wycombe. He’s since lost his place to Josh Hare who’s taken his chance with some impressive displays.
However, far from being disappointed Little was happy for Hare and welcomed the competition for places.
He said: ‘He’s a really good kid, and I’m really happy for him, it’s good competition which is exactly what I want in any team I go and play for.’
