Southend United’s management team refused to speak to the media after their most recent defeat last night in the latest controversial development of a terrible start to the season.
The Shrimpers went down 2-0 to League Two newcomers Leyton Orient in the EFL Trophy last night making it eight losses in nine games and heaped further pressure on under-pressure manager Kevin Bond.
Local journalist and the Blues correspondent for the Southend Echo Chris Phillips revealed the news via a tweet last night, claiming it was the first time in eighteen years covering the club he’d known this to happen.
Furious fans soon took to social media too reply to the latest managerial revelation with many supporters extremely unhappy at the plight of the club under Bond and seeing his absence in the media as a lack of courage in the face of adversity.
Many also felt the manager was showing blatant contempt for the club’s supporters and most hoped it was a sign his time was up.
Here is a small selection of angry responses to the tweet.
At least we don’t have to listen to his pathetic excuses this time

If this situation hadn't been resolved come the Fleetwood match, Roots Hall must rise as one and demand for Bond & Waddock to be removed from the club.

This is yet another sign of their gross incompetence lack of professionalism and total disregard for the fans of the club! I have supported Southend home and away for 52 years yet this is the first time I have ever felt like I do now
