Midfielder Ben Pringle has today reunited with Steve Evans by signing for League One side Gillingham.
Pringle has formerly played for the outspoken manager at Rotherham, whom he helped to Championship promotion.
The 31-year-old left Preston at the end of last season, having enjoyed loan spells with the promoted Tranmere Rovers along with Grimsby Town, Oldham Athletic and Ipswich Town.
He appeared 147 times for Rotherham, later moving to Fulham where he only appeared 15 times before a move to Preston.
Evans is, understandably, delighted with his capture, telling the club’s official site; “I am delighted to reunite Ben Pringle with Paul Raynor and myself after he delivered nothing short of a fantastic few seasons while we were in charge at Rotherham United. We found the player in the reserves and within a couple of seasons found himself playing for Fulham in the Championship.”
Pringle is happy to have found a club, especially with a manager he’s familiar with.
“I have worked with the Gaffer before and we obviously had successful times at Rotherham. I am excited to get back playing,” he told the club’s site.
“It’s always nice to work with someone again when you have had good times. I have played out wide most of my career, primarily on the left but I like to score goals and create chances and hopefully I can bring that to the team.”
Whilst fans are happy to see a new face coming in, one or two are questioning the position, believing they’re yet to see a quality striker come through the door.
