Bolton in talks with former Fleetwood winger

Bolton Wanderers busy day looks set to continue following the revelation they are in talks to sign former Fleetwood Town winger Ross Wallace.

At the time of writing the Trotters have already announced the signings of Jake Buckley, Thibaud Verlinden and Liam Bridcutt but it appears their business is not complete after Pete O’Rourke from Football Insider tweeted they are in talks with the experienced campaigner.

The former Celtic, Preston, Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday winger joined up with Joey Barton’s side last September and penned a short-term deal prior to the beginning of the current campaign following the expiration of his original one-year contract at the end of last season.

He scored one goal last season and he’s appeared from the bench four times so far this campaign.

Our View

Keith Hill is looking for experience in the limited time he has available to rebuild the Bolton squad, and Wallace fits the bill.

He has a wealth of EFL experience and showed in 2018/19 that even in his mid-thirties, he can still be a handful at League One level.
