League Two Crawley Town produced a cup upset last night, knocking a weakened Premier League Norwich City side out of the Carabao Cup.
Former Birmingham City midfielder Beryly Lubala’s fifth goal of the season was enough to send the Red Devils through to the third round of the competition and increased the sense of optimism for their ecstatic supporters.
Crawley have made a decent start to the season, winning two and drawing one of their opening five League Two fixtures and many supporters feel manager Gabi Cioffi’s turned a corner with the team after a disappointing campaign last season.
Although Norwich made eleven changes from the side that lost to Chelsea in their last Premier League outing, this did not dampen the joy or enthusiasm of plenty of Crawley supporters when they took to social media to react to the result.
Fans of other clubs also congratulated the League Two outfit with supporters of the Canaries East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town prominent. Fans from neighbours Brighton also offered congratulations as did some generous Norwich City fans.
