It’s d-day for Bury FC. They have to find a buyer this afternoon, or they’ll cease to be a member of the Football League.
The sorry saga has run on through the summer, disrupting the early stages of the League One season and casting a huge shadow over the EFL. Bury haven’t competed in a fixture yet this season and were granted a late stay of execution last week.
They have to prove to the EFL they have been taken over by 5pm, or they’ll have their membership of the Football league revoked. If that happens, the next stage is more than likely liquidation.
Whilst the clouds gather over Gigg Lane, a hardy band of volunteers have come together to work on the ground, hoping to get it ready in the event of a game being played there. These are not just fans of Bury, but supporters from across the community including Bolton Wanderers, who face a similar deadline.
Football can be a cruel game, littered with rogue owners, financial pitfalls and heartbreak, but today’s scenes at Gigg Lane prove why we all love it so much; we’re all in it together.
Football without the fans is nothing, good luck to you all ππ»

Should never come to this, but just shows how important it is to the fans. Football is for the players and the fans.. not the fat cat greed mongers behind it.. money is ruining our beautiful game, I really hope it works out for everyone at Bury, and Bolton! #FootballFamily βππ»

Football matters to us local club supporters. This is what a lot of premiership supporters don't understand. Fingers crossed for you π€

These are dark days but don't worry you will rise again. Get the fans onboard ready to take over. Doesn't matter what league you play in. We've been there and got through, from an Exeter fan #ecfc
