‘Wanna be our manager?’ – Many Southend fans react to controversial former striker’s social media message

Southend United fell to yet another defeat yesterday, their third of the season, going down 4-0 away at Lincoln City.

The game was evenly matched for the first 30 minutes or so, but a Jason Shackell header and Harry Toffolo strike gave the home side a comfortable half time lead.

Tyler Walker scored from the penalty spot just after the break, with Bruno Andrade adding gloss to the scoreline with ten minutes to go.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Kevin Bond’s side, a crushing defeat that sees them sink to 22nd in the table, with Bolton and Bury the only two clubs keeping them off the foot of the division. They lacked cohesion, looked a beaten side for the entire second half and will have to lift themselves if they’re going to turn their bad start around quickly.

One of their former players has put the boot in a little on Twitter as well. Nile Ranger is a controversial figure who certainly added steel to their forward line before he was released. He tweeted a simple emoji which seems to express concern for the Shrimpers.

That’s brought a number of their supporters to social media to comment too, perhaps already concerned for the season ahead. The best of their responses can be found below.
