Liverpool youngster spotted in Doncaster stands prompting transfer speculation

Doncaster Rovers fans spotted Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane in the Keepmoat stands yesterday prompting speculation that a return to Rovers was imminent.

The twenty-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Doncaster last season, making forty-nine appearances across all competitions scoring seven goals as Rovers reached the League One playoffs.

He watched his former teammates secure their first win of the season in a 3-2 victory over Fleetwood, and the posting of his picture enjoying the game on social media by supporters was evidence enough for some fans to believe Kane was about to re-sign for the South Yorkshire outfit.

However, the report was picked up by Scouts in Attendance who claimed League One rivals Coventry City and Portsmouth were also interested in the talented youngster.

Nonetheless, Kane’s attendance at the game would seem to put Darren Moore in pole position to capture the services of a player who became a firm fan favourite at the Keepmoat last season.

Kane is tipped for big things by the Anfield hierarchy and signed a new extended contract with the Merseyside giants in December 2018 meaning any move is likely to be a further loan.

Our View

Doncaster Rovers fans will be ecstatic if Kane returns, he is a talented player and was a key member of last season’s successful side.

They should be mindful that just because a player is visiting a former club, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are set to sign.

However, it does look like Rovers fans might soon have something to celebrate after a frustrating summer.
