Coventry City boss Mark Robins has dropped a huge transfer hint this morning, as revealed by Coventry Live.
He’s revealed that he may have a transfer set to come to fruition in the next 48-hours as he attempts to strengthen his side. The deadline for clubs in League One and Two is not set to pass until early September, but Robins is keen to add sooner, rather than later.
“I’ve got one specific one in mind that may come to fruition today or tomorrow,” said the former Scunthorpe boss.
“There is a possibility of doing something there but do I want to put money into that position at the moment? No, because it looks a waste of time but there are a lot of what ifs.”
One area that is a concern is right back, with Fankaty Dabo the only recognised right-sided full back at the club. Robins admitted it could cause him issues if Dabo picked up an injury.
“I might have to change shape. I’ve got a bit of scope to do something, but I’ve moved onto something else. I’ve just had news this morning, which could alter things should anything happen to Franky (Dabo).
“If anything happens to Franky over a significant period of time, then I’ve got an issue.”
The Sky Blues are unbeaten this season, overcoming Southend on the opening day before being held to a disappointing draw with a youthful Bolton side at the weekend.
Our View
Robins needs a few new recruits; his side looked a little lacklustre against the Trotters last weekend.
They’ve made a number of changes over the summer and there is a feeling the squad isn’t complete as yet.
they’ve got a bit of work to do off the field before the transfer deadline passes, but will then have to put the hours in on the training pitch to get them to gel.
That said, it’s been a good start to the season with no goals conceded.
