Sunderland registered a 3-1 win in the EFL Cup this evening, but for a while it looked like they might be back on for a 1-1 draw.
Following two draws this season some fans are sceptical whenever a Jack Ross side heads out on to the field. Despite Marc McNulty’s opening goal, they were pegged back by an Accrington Stanley penalty.
With the game poised at 1-1, fans began to get edgy. Ross decided to put Aiden McGeady into the fray and he proved to be the difference. He bagged the second goal, a strike that gave his side confidence to go on and garb a third through Charlie Wyke.
It’s a morale-boosting win for Ross, but it may just paper over the cracks in his squad. Supporters seem to feel that without McGeady the side would struggle; he was the difference in games last season and whilst out injured at the end of the campaign their form crumbled.
For now, he’s back and looking like he might be every bit as effective as he was last season. Can he be the catalyst for them kickstarting their season against Portsmouth this weekend?
these fans think that without him, they might be in trouble.
ITS A MIRACLE π©
