Four points behind Lincoln City after just two games; that’s not a position Sunderland supporters would ever have thought they’d find themselves in.
They managed a 1-1 draw with Ipswich yesterday, not a terrible result in the grand scheme of things, but certainly not great when coupled with the opening day disappointment against Oxford United.
With Portsmouth up next for the Black Cats, the early pressure is on former St Mirren boss Ross. A failure to pick up a win against last season’s nemesis will turn the heat up a little higher.
Luke Garbutt gave the home side a 15th-minute lead yesterday, with Lynden Gooch the saviour of the Black Cats just after the hour mark. A rather disjointed display saw the Tractor Boys dominate with 17 shots compared to the visitors three.
It doesn’t bode well for Sunderland and supporters have been on social media this morning outlining their anger at the manager for what appears to be a continuation of last season’s somewhat boring approach.

Reward the loyal fans and get rid of Ross. If not you will get rid of your loyal fans.

Everyone looking so miserable… Not good.

Those suggesting keane clearly have short memories. He is a football management failure. He needed a chequebook to get promotion and an even bigger one to stay up.
He is arguably the reason we ended up in the financial mess we found ourselves in.
I agree. We cannot spend, given the regulations, but play limited footballers to their strengths, namely full-backs in a flat back four.
