Cheltenham Town have unsuccessfully appealed the red card handed to Rohan Ince this weekend, instead finding the EFL are planning to review the suspension to possibly make it longer.
Their official club website reports that they appealed the three-match ban handed to the former Chelsea midfielder after he was dismissed for throwing a water bottle to the floor. It hit the fourth official as it bounced away from Ince and he was immediately sent off.
The FA have released a statement saying:Ā “Rohan Ince has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3[1].
“The Cheltenham Town player was dismissed during the EFL League Two fixture against Leyton Orient on Saturday [3/8/19] for violent conduct. However, it is alleged that the standard three-match suspension is clearly insufficient.
“The midfielder has until 18:00 tomorrow [8/8/19] to provide a response.”
Cheltenham also had Luke Varney sent off for a second bookable offence during their encounter with Leyton Orient. It was an emotionally-charged game as the home side made their first appearance back in the Football League, paying tribute to manager Justin Edinburgh who passed away over the summer.
As a football, spectacle it was certainly interesting, Josh Wright’s goal giving the home side the win, but the repercussions could be severe for Ince and Cheltenham. however, not all fans think that the governing body have got it right on this occasion; even an Orient fan thinks they’ve been hard done by, as you can see from the posts below.

Iād love to know the @EFL thought process behind someone throwing down an empty water bottle and ACCIDENTALLY hitting the 4th official being worth more than a 3 game suspension š have some common sense. Bunch of clowns reviewing it

Players regularly throw water bottles back to the bench. The 4th has got to be pretty bloody sure to be claiming that it was with intent. I would hope there is very clear evidence if this is the case!
