Blackburn Rovers defender to make League One loan switch

Blackburn Rovers defender Tyler Magloire is set to sign for League One Rochdale on loan on a season-long deal, as reported by Football Insider.

Magloire has progressed through the ranks at Ewood Park and Tony Mowbray is thought to want him to get senior first team experience in order for him to progress further.

The 20-year-old made his first-team debut last season in against Wigan, followed by another appearance away at Sheffield Wednesday as his side went down 4-2. That’s the total of his senior football thus far, with Rochdale set to give him some exposure to their first team, should he join.

It’s thought a host of clubs had enquired about Magloire, but Rochdale look set to beat everyone to his signature. Their own youth team is renowned for producing talented young players and that has convinced Blackburn to entrust their exciting youngster to Brian Barry-Murphy’s side.

Dale won their opening game of the season 3-2, 34-year-old Jim McNulty and former Bury man Eoghan O’Connell at the heart of the back four.

Our View

Blackburn have a good academy, producing talented players like Lewis Travis and Scoot Wharton, but those players need first team football. Wharton has had several loan spells in recent seasons, with Lincoln, Bury and currently Northampton Town.

Travis has made the step into the first team without a loan spell, but Magloire sits between the two. he needs regular football, something that’s not being offered at Ewood Park at the moment.

Rochdale have a lot of young players of their own and that is surely a deciding factor in him heading to Spotland.
